Quick Overview of AutoCAD LT
A lower-cost version, AutoCAD LT (pronounced “ell tee”, not “lite”), was first introduced in 1993. When comparing it with its more expensive sibling, LT lacks the AutoLISP programming language and other programming interfaces such as ARX or VBA _(see add-ons below to enable LISP, ARX)).
LT also has limited 3D capability and minimal CAD management tools. The AutoCAD LT software is primarily designed for 2d drafting and detailing. It supports and creates full DWG files which are compatible with the full version of AutoCAD.
AutoCAD Release LT has all the power of the full versions of AutoCAD. AutoCAD’s LT version does not include:
3D capabilities
Sheet set management
Customization (LISP, ARX, VBA) - See add-ons below!
Presentation graphics
CAD standards management
Network licensing
