About OpenNURBS 3DM format
The OpenNURBS Initiative was founded by Robert McNeel & Associates in January 2000. The 3DM file format is the native file format of Rhinoceros, the NURBS modeling software from McNeel & Associates.
OpenNURBS allows CAD, CAM, CAE and computer graphics softwareto share and transfer 3D objects between applications using the 3DM (3D Model) file format.
The 3DM file format still a popular file format used within many CAD applications. In fact TerrainCAD, the editing and modeling software also written by Sycode, also uses the 3DM file format as its native file format.
Installation & Usage
Since 3DM Import for AutoCAD is a plug-in for AutoCAD, it must be loaded into the AutoCAD environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the 3DM Import for AutoCAD ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder.
After you have loaded the plug-in file into AutoCAD, simply click on the menu items in the “3DMImport” submenu or type “3DMImport” (without quotes) at the AutoCAD command prompt and press “Enter”. This will bring about the “File Open” dialog box from where you can select the 3DM file you wish to import. Software made simple!
