The CAD Script Generator will help you would like to apply to multiple drawing file names and paths. In just a few steps, you will be able to automatically generate a script file containing all drawings files within a single directory or directory tree.

Built-in AutoCAD Scripting

Simply create a set of commands for the script template. These are one-line commands that will be performed by AutoCAD (or any other text based macro) to be duplicated for each file in a directory structure. (Or simply use the built-in script generator to create your own).

Here’s an example of a simple AutoCAD script (we have named it purgeit.scr - note the file extension of ‘scr’) that will open a single drawing, “purge” all plot styles from a drawing, do a quick save, and then close it.

To run this script for multiple files with Script Generator, simply replace the line containing the path and file name with <*file*>. Then Run the CAD Script Generator, select this script as the template, and it will automatically generate a script with each file in place of the <*file*> line.
