Installing the AutoCAD Hatch Patterns

Installing AutoCAD hatch pattens is very straight forward. Here is the basic steps followed by a detailed walk thru.

Easy Step by Step Installation:

First we need to locate a file named acad.pat and acadiso.pat (or aclt.pat and acltiso.pat for LT). Note that the Acadiso.pat and acltiso.pat are for metric hatch pattern scaling only.

Click “Start”, next click “Search”, click “All files and folders”, and then click “More advanced options”. In advanced options we will tell it to look for hidden folders.

Then select the “Search system folders and “Search hidden files and folders” check boxes. Finally in the “All or part of the file name” box type: *.pat to locate your all hatch patterns files. Be sure to look thru entire drive to be sure there are no duplicates.

Once you locate the acad.pat file, right click on the file to open it with your Notepad editor.

Next, open the pat file shipped with your order with your Notepad editor. The copy entire contents of file to the clipboard. (Ctrl A then Ctrl C). Finally paste your custom hatch pattern into the file.

Important step: Make sure to add a carriage return at the end of the last line. (Hit Enter to force a new blank line at the end of the code)

Also note that the order in which your AutoCAD hatch patterns will appear in AutoCAD is determined by the order of each pattern within the .pat file.
