Calcs centroid, moment of inertia and strength
W2 - an application for mechanical design: calculate sectional properties for any cross section from Arbeit MF
Easily calculates sectional properties!
W2 v3.3 - Calculate Sectional Properties. In the mechanical design, sectional properties, such as centroid, moment of inertia and strength modulus are necessary for calculating stresses, deflections, and buckling.
Formulas for common cross sections can be found in most mechanical design reference books. But when shapes are complex, more advanced methods are required to determine the necessary values. Calculate sectional properties for any cross section!
Loading W2
Load the application using the pull-down menu: Tools -> Load Application – select the file w2.vlx or w2.lsp. At the Command prompt, you can load the application using the AutoLISP function load:
Command: (load ”w2”)
The file w2.lsp or w2.vlx must be in the AutoCAD support file search path.
Using W2
After loading, the following new commands will be added to AutoCAD:
- set_w2 - set the precision of calculus
- w0 - select the section using the AutoCAD command “select”
- w1 - select the section using the AutoCAD command “bhatch” - recommended
- w - calculate the sectional properties
