What’s new in AutoCAD 2005?
AutoCAD 2005 is based on its previous predecessor 2004 with added functionality. AutoCAD 2005 makes drawing collaboration and management easier! AutoCAD 2005 takes your productivity to the next level.
Good news for all 2004 users … there is no change to the file format in this new Autodesk release. In addition most 3rd party applications will that were supported in AutoCAD 2004 will work with 2005. Lastly no minimum hardware requirements differ from those in 2004.

New AutoCAD 2005 SheetSet Manager
In AutoCAD 2005 you can combine drawings, layouts, and views into sets of sheets. Place sheets into logical categories and assemble sheet sets using both new and existing drawings.
The Sheet Manager gives your team members simultaneous access to sheet sets within your network.
You can also Organize sheets into logical sets and subsets that can be customized by company, project, or other entry.
The 2005 SheetSet manager links your sheets together and manages callouts blocks and tables for you. Automatically updates you detail callouts and bubbles as changes in your drawings occurs.
Link fields and information such as plot and date stamps within your sheet set or even entire project, ensuring that all the drawings are stamped accurately.
Use your AutoCAD 2005 Sheet Manager to archive sheet sets automatically! Use the Sheet Manager to generate and store copies of your work effortlessly. Use your archives to revisit project history.
Layer Properties Manager & Groups
Manage your layers in AutoCAD 2005 more efficiently using the improved Layer Properties Manager. Select and define groups of layers so you can easily and quickly update a specified layer selection with just a single click.
Tables like Word in 2005 release
TABLE (a new command) adds functionality in Tables similar to that found in MS Word. Copy data from directly from Excel and then Paste Special using AutoCAD Entities option. This creates a new table directly inside of AutoCAD.
AutoCAD 2005 allows better Viewport flexibility!
Use view and viewport enhancements more efficiently. Create and reuse your views and viewports. Plus associate a layout with specific layer settings. Use new VpMax to maximize a layout viewport to fit the entire drawing screen, making it easier to edit drawings in small viewports.

Build tables using a single command instantly access frequently used tools and content, and create graphics-rich presentations.
Tables feel more like spreadsheets. Cells can now contain text, mtext, field text, hyperlinks, blocks or drawings. After creating your table style share it through the Design Center.
Text Fields automatically update placeholder text—such as callouts, labels, and title blocks— so that you can be sure that your information stays up to date.
Field text is “automatic text,” similar to the feel you find using Microsoft Word.
Import Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into AutoCAD 2005 as table objects that preserve the original formatting.
AutoCAD 2005 allows you to define a color background for MText.
Simplified publishing increases productivity with one-click plotting and a more intuitive plot user interface.
Background plotting enables you to keep working in the drawing editor as you output your designs to DWF files or plot them to paper.
Heads-up editing allowing you to select an object, right-click one of its handle, and drag the object. In addition a shortcut menu is displayed when you let go of the mouse button using move, copy, paste as block, or cancel commands.
