MBG, the makers of Block Controller just announced a new 2007 version of their software. Block Controller (also called BC) is a Symbols Manager plus a whole lot more. This tool is full of useful utilities to not only manage symbols, but to catalog, edit and access entire symbols libraries as well.
We took BC for a recent test drive and really were fascinated by how much this tool had to offer. First off, creating a huge symbol catalog was very easy with BC. It was a simple to import Block References and DWG files into BC. Slides were automatically created as we created a new symbols library.
If you are a CAD manager you’ll appreciate the fact that BC can also allow only certain users to modify the blocks. The Administration panel allows you to assign read, write or administration rights to BC users accessing same database through network. In addition there’s a Standards Manager which can assign Insert Properties to a Library.
Instead of configuring Insert Properties for each block you simply select Insert Properties and then apply it to all blocks in the symbol library. This allows you to preset a standard for each client and switch to that standard on the fly by one click of a mouse within the BC main dialog box.
BC is full of great features and is definitely one to have in any office that needs to organize, create and edit a symbol library. There’s a free download available on our products page plus lots of screenshots to give you a glimpse of what’s inside the Block Controller.
