AutoCAD LT 2007 is built upon the same technology that you’ll find in the full version of AutoCAD 2007. Autodesk has created AutoCAD LT by removing a few features here from the full version to make it affordable for small to mid-sized companies and home offices.

In fact AutoCAD LT 20007 is perfectly suitable for many office who just don’t need all the bells and whistles packed into AutoCAD 2007. Overall AutoCAD LT looks and feels much like regular AutoCAD. When comparing the two programs you’ll find that even the menus and drawings found in AutoCAD LT 2007 look much the same.

AutoDesk has included dynamic blocks and has even added the Express Tools for better layer management. With full DWG file format (Both CAD programs share the same DWG and DWF format) you’ll be able to share your drawings with consultants without any problems.

LT cost only about 1/4 of what you’ll spend on the full version of AutoCAD! Things you won’t find in AutoCAD LT are customization features and programming languages used to write small add-ons and inner office utilities.

The 3D portion of AutoCAD LT has been dismantled as well. Although LT will still be able to view 3D drawings, it just can’t create them. Most offices worrying in a 2D drafting environment won’t notice the limited 3D support.

For those who need to get up to speed with the new 2007 version or even learn AutoCAD from scratch, AutoCAD LT 2007 is an extremely cost effective solution. Because most menus are identical LT offers a great way to jump in and learn the new 2D drafting commands.
