News Release - March 1, 2004
CADcommunity.net launched
to provide support and free web hosting to the Autodesk
community.
Cadopolis.com announces the
launch of CADcommunity.net an independent server, set-up
to provide support and free web hosting to the AutoCAD
community. The service is available to groups and
individuals that provide free cad related support and
information to their visitors.
“We have been working in cooperation with User groups and
other members of the Autodesk community through
sponsorship for the past several years and we feel that
this is just the next logical step”, says Cadopolis.com
president Michael Robinson. “Over the years a significant
number of innovative and informative web sites have
evolved to further the development of AutoCAD through the
sharing of resources. These are not-for-profit sites that
people maintain and contribute to on a daily basis.
Unfortunately we have seen sites disappear mainly due to
the financial burdens required to sustain them. As a
result we have endeavored to create a community where
people can contribute and share their information without
financial concerns.”
CADcommunity.net is geared towards Autodesk User Groups
and non-profit web sites that relate to Autodesk news,
information, and training. The server has a standard
configuration for web sites, but it can also be customized
to suit individual web site requirements. The server also
features a server wide search engine that can source
individual sites as well as any site on the server. This
functionality can be easily incorporated into any web site
should they wish to provide this service. CADcommunity
also plans on adding several other informative tools such
as news feeds and a ‘directory’ structure to categorize
the different sites on the server.
One of the first sites to join the new server was
www.ActiveDWG.com.
ActiveDWG.com is a great example of a web site that
provides AutoCAD tips, tricks, and shareware. Many more
sites will be added in the coming months and anyone
interested in joining is invited to contact
CADcommunity.net.
