Powerful AutoCAD Text Editing

SmartNOTES is a set of templates and macros designed for use by AutoCAD users to create, edit, and manipulate notes, legends and schedules within an AutoCAD drawing, using the text editing tools of Microsoft Word. New features include: the ability for users to set the color and size (scale) of the SmartNotes.

Edit multi-columns and more

AutoCAD provides several text-editing tools within the program, such as Text, DText, and MText (Multiline Text). Each of these tools is useful in its own way. However, none offers the ability to easily create and edit large blocks of multi-column notes or legends. SmartNOTES enables you to accomplish this task, using the versatile word-processing capabilities of Microsoft Word.

SmartNOTES documents are created and edited in a Microsoft Word table, converted to text, then placed into an AutoCAD drawing. The AutoCAD drafter may perform all note editing functions without ever leaving AutoCAD. Alternatively, a typist may prepare the notes using Microsoft Word, without opening AutoCAD.

Links AutoCAD text to Word Documents

SmartNOTES notes are maintained as Microsoft Word documents. When an AutoCAD note is revised, the associated Word Document is automatically opened for editing, then saved, re-converted, and re-inserted into the AutoCAD drawing in its revised form.

This exchange between AutoCAD and Word may be repeated as often as needed. As you edit a drawing in AutoCAD , SmartNOTES takes you to Microsoft Word, where you create or edit your notes in a Word “Table”.

After editing the notes, SmartNOTES returns you to the AutoCAD drawing editor and automatically inserts (or re-inserts) the notes into the drawing. The notes appear in the AutoCAD drawing in the current paper space layout as a “group”. They may be moved, as a group, to any desired location within the layout.

Install Notes

Typically installs to a temp folder at C:\SN-Install” (you may have to manually open this to look for installer)

Then installs to Program Files / Smart Notes where you will need to load in the Toolbar from the Acad folder - see also instructions and demo files in this folder.
